Air Serbia is going to have operation in Bucharest Airport with Easy Jet
BUCHAREST,
Romania - Air Serbia, the Serbian national air carrier and low-cost airline
easyJet will operate flights at Romania’s Henri Coanda-Otopeni Airport starting
this year.
Air Serbia will operate flights on the Bucharest-Belgrade
route, while easyJet will run flights between Otopeni Airport and London.
“We had talks with several airlines. Starting this year, Air
Serbia and easyJet will operate on the Otopeni Airport. We are also in talks
with a company from Ukraine,” said Cornel Poterasu, deputy general manager of
the airport, quoted by local business publication Ziarul Financiar.
Otopeni Airport counted 3.5 million passengers in the first
half of this year, slightly up over the same period in 2012.
Some of the airlines currently operating on the Otopeni
Airport are Tarom, Blue Air, British Airways, Air France KLM, and Wizz Air.
Aviation in Montenegro
Overview
The airport was built in 1961, in Zeta
Plain, south of Podgorica. Since its opening, it catered to both civil aviation
and Yugoslav
Air Force. It was, along with the Tivat Airport, owned by Yugoslav
Airlines until
2003, when Government
of Montenegro bought
both airports. The airport was a frequent target during 1999
NATO bombing, when numerous Podgorica Airbase facilities
and underground fuel tanks were destroyed. However, no significant damage on
the passenger terminal or runway and taxiway systems was inflicted.
The airport has ICAO classification 4E ILS
Cat I. However, ILS landing is possible only on runway 36, as northern approach
to runway 18 is visual only, possible under perfect VMC.
This is due to proximity of Dinaric Alps in
the north. A major renovation and expansion took place in 2006, with a
refurbishment and extension of the apron and improvements to the taxiways
system, airfield lighting system and power supply. Entirely new passenger
terminal was built, while the old passenger terminal underwent reconstruction
and refurbishment in 2009. There are 6 aprons instead of previous 3, and
further extension of up to 8 aprons is possible.
The improved taxiway system allowed for wide-body
aircraft to
be serviced at the airport. Thus, the airport began servicing Il-86s and
first Boeing
747 freighter
paid visit to the airport in April 2008.
Terminals
As air traffic in Montenegro saw a rapid increase in traffic
in recent years, the old passenger terminal, a small, cobblestone building,
had been retired except for duties with small-volume charter flights after the
new terminal was built in 2006. The new passenger terminal (5,500 m²) opened on
May 14, 2006. It has eight departure and two arrival gates, and is able to
handle up to 1 million passengers annually. The terminal currently does not
feature jetways,
as passenger flow at the airport does not impose the need for ones.
The main (new) terminal building is a modern aluminium and
glass structure, featuring advanced architectural solutions such as indirect
lighting throughout the building. Since its opening, it features Costa
Coffee outlet,
two newspaper stalls, a duty-free shop, rent-a-car posts, and CKB bank
outlet. Although the airport is considered a low-risk one, security screening
has been visibly increased since the introduction of the new terminal. Security
measures and monitoring that are standard for European airports are applied on
the terminal.
The old terminal building is now housing medical staff, the
Airports of Montenegro school center, lost-and-found luggage, airlines offices,
a VIP
lounge and a press conference hall. It was completely renovated and opened on
September 15, 2009 and is now intended for VIP use and general
aviation.

Airport development
In 2008
the Macedonian Government signed a contract with the Turkish
company Tepe Akfen Ventures (TAV) for a twenty-year long concession during
which this company would manage Macedonia's two existing airports - the Skopje
Alexander the Great Airport and the St.
Paul the Apostle Airport in Ohrid. In September 2011, the new
terminal building, extension of the runway, new administrative building, cargo
building and new access road with parking facilities were opened. The goal of the project is to increase the
capacity of Skopje Airport to four million passengers per year with plans to
turn Skopje Airport into a major transit and cargo hub for Southeast Europe. Renovations of the
Ohrid airport terminal building and VIP sections were
completed in the Spring of 2011. The concession contract also includes the
construction of a third airport intended for cargo transport near the eastern Macedonian
town of Štip which eventually would be transformed
into Macedonia’s main airport. The total amount of the foreseen investment is
200 million Euros with 30 to 40 million Euros total concession payments to the
Macedonian Government over the 20-year concession period. Tepe Akfen Ventures
Airport Holding is one of the world's fastest expanding airport operators
currently managing the Turkish airports ofAtatürk, Esenboğa, Adnan Menderes and Gazipaşa along with Tbilisi and Batumi in Georgia, Monastir and Enfidha in Tunisia. TAV is also bidding to

Opposite markets can have different characteristics . The volume of demand of opposite markets can be different , but since nearly all air trips are eventually round trips, the flow of traffic in each direction will be approximately equal over an extended time period . It might also be the case that the prices are not equal in each opposite market even though both markets use same airline flights .

The civil air transport in
Albania marked its beginnings in November 1924, when the Republic of Albania
signed a governmental agreement with German Air Company Lufthansa .
In August 1927, the office of
Civil Aviation of Air Traffic Ministry of Italy purchased Adria Aero Lloyd. The
company, now in Italian hands, expanded its flights to other cities, such as Elbasan, Korça, Kukësi, Peshkopia and Gjirokastra, and opened up international lines
to Rome, Milan, Thessaloniki,Sofia, Belgrade, and Podgorica.
The construction of a more modern
airport in Lapraka started
in 1934 and was completed by the end of 1935. This new airport, which was later
officially named "Airport of Tirana", was constructed in conformity
with optimal technological parameters of that time, with a reinforced concrete
runway of 2,700 m (8,858 ft), and complemented with technical
equipment and appropriate buildings.
During 1955–1957, the Rinasi Airport was constructed for military purposes.
Later, its administration was shifted to the Ministry of Transport. On 25
January 1957 the State-owned Enterprise of International Air Transport (Albtransport)
established its headquarters in Tirana.
From 1989 to 1991, because of
political changes in the Eastern
European countries,
Albania adhered to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), opened
its air space to international flights, and had its duties of Air Traffic
Control defined. As a result of these developments, conditions were created to
separate the activities of air traffic control from Albtransport. Instead, theNational
Agency of Air Traffic (NATA)
was established as an independent enterprise. In addition, during these years,
governmental agreements of civil air transport were established with countries
such as Bulgaria,
Germany, Slovenia, Italy,
Russia, Austria, the UK and Macedonia.
The Directory General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was established on 3
February 1991, to cope with the development required by the time. As of 2007
Albania has one international airport: Tirana International Airport
Nënë Tereza. The airport is linked to 29 destinations by 14
airlines. It has seen a dramatic rise in passenger numbers and aircraft
movements since the early 1990s. The data for 2009 is 1.3 million
passengers served and an average of 44 landings and takeoffs per day
